When asked how long I've been taking pictures, I always tend to hesitate. I feel like I've always had a camera in my hands. Early family vacations in the 2000's of ours have been documented from my POV from toy cameras or my Dad's old digitals, shot by my tiny fingers out car windows. When I was about eight, I distinctly remember getting my first real camera for Christmas, and immediately started filling the SD card with shots and my head with ideas for home videos staring me, my friends, and brothers. I've always had an eye for shooting, and I will always have more to learn. For the first time officially, my Dad taught me how to understand and properly shoot photography through the art of film. I consider film photography the real roots of my journey behind cameras, as well as the base of most of my photography knowledge due to my Dad's passion and teaching for the subject as well.
In my senior year of high school, I found myself really loving being behind a camera and knew I wanted to continue to be for as long as possible and learn as much as I could. I am now attending Gordon College as a Communication Arts major, with a Graphic Design minor. These studies are much broader than just photography. It's been through these programs that I have fallen more in love with other creative aspects, such as videos for example. In my first semester of my Freshman year I got to make my first short film over the course of many weeks. The creation of my first video made me fall in love with more than just still shots, and I've been striving to produce more videos on a roughly monthly basis.
Not only do I strive for continual learning, but deeper experiences. I challenged myself to take my film photography to the next level: learning to develop my own film from home. I still have plenty of room to grow, but I'm looking forward to getting to do more of that. Speaking of more, this summer I will be doing a lot more photography as I am the Photographer & Media Specialist of my local BSA summer camp, as well as being the returning Photographer for a BSA leadership course that I've been on staff for for four years so far.
I'm excited to keep being behind a camera and in front of designs, and I hope to work with you soon! I'm glad you've gotten to hear about a small glimpse of my life, and I look forward to hearing more about you, your needs, and how I might be able to help.
